ZTE has sold 35 million phones in 2011 first half

ZTE, the Chinese mobile device manufacturer announces sales of 35 million handsets in the first half of 2011. 5 million of these handsets sold are smartphones, a 400% growth year on year.

The company has entered the smartphone market with its ZTE Blade. ZTE Blade has already sold 2.5 million units and is selling at the rate of 16,000 a day in China.

ZTE expects to sell 5 million units of ZTE Blade in 2011 and an overall smartphone sales figure of 17 million for the year.

The latest financial figures of ZTE have been boosted by its US sales where sales figures tripled in the first half.

Independent analysts have also been closely monitoring the growth of the company that is now being placed as the fifth largest among the mobile phone manufacturers worldwide.

EVP He Shiyou has confirmed the plans to launch more than 30 smart terminals this year including smartphones like ZTE Skate.
