WinPho 8 development tools to be worked on together by Microsoft and Unity

Unity is a provider of multi-platform game engine and development tools and it has now got to team up with Microsoft to work together on the development tools for Xbox One, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

The team is looking to simplify for the developers working on the Microsoft platform the process of bringing apps, entertainment and popular games.

The commercial version of ‘Windows Store Add-on’ from Unity was unveiled during annual Build Conference of Microsoft in San Francisco. It is now included in Unity 4.2 Release Candidate 1. The commitment is to provide continuous innovation and support for Microsoft platforms.

Unity Pro 4 licensed developers will get a free license for the ‘Windows Store Add-on’ when it is launched this summer for $1,500. The add-on will have support for both Windows Phone 8 apps and Windows Store apps.

Xbox One support will include enhanced Kinect gestures and recognition, cloud services, SmartGlass and multiplayer matchmaking.
