In the recent Lux report titled “Getting Back in Touch with Electronics: Finding Opportunity in Emerging Haptics” it has been mentioned that the haptics market will increase more than 16 times to reach $13.8 billion in 2025.

The haptics market is largely driven by mobiles and tablets.

Today’s emerging technology is piezoelectric actuator that produces friendly controlled vibrations across a range of frequencies and it is expected that it will replace current LRAs and ERM. It will make $9.2 billion in sales in 2025.

Business of $1.3 billion comes from public interfaces like ATMs, voting machines, info kiosks, copiers and touch-enabled vending machines. This is second only to consumer electronic items.

Haptics like electrostatics, electroactive polymers and micro fluids are yet to be used in the present commercial devices. But integration with electronic gadgets will happen in 2016 and this will encourage an increase to a $4.5 billion market in 2025.
