User gen augmented reality introduced by Layar

Layar has been testing the idea of allowing users to scan images, sketches, stickers and texts on the mobile phone to add them to objects.

This project was in a beta phase for a few months and now it is ready for launch. Stiktu is an app that will allow people to share their favorite things as well as rate their favorite items. The idea of the app is to let people see posts directly on top of the objects others scan and it doesn’t matter where these people are in the world.

Well lit, flat items like product packages, posters and magazines are the best items to use with this app. Even though the video of the app doesn’t make it very clear how Stiktu works, it should be a good idea. The app is now available in the Android Market and iTunes App Store in France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands and UK.
