Unity raises Series B funding worth 12 billion

iGlobe Partners and WestSummit Capital lead the Series B funding for Unity Technologies worth USD 12 billion.

Unity Technologies is one of the better known games development platform providers. As part of the funding deal, the Unity board will be joined by the MD of WestSummit Raymond Yang. The board already has participation from their existing partner Sequoia Capital.

One of the main reasons for Unity Technologies for raising this new fund is to fund their Asian expansion, especially in China. CEO David Helgason has mentioned that one of the new reasons for working with iGlobe Partners and WestSummit Capital is because of their extensive knowledge of the Asian network market and the market dynamics there.

Unity has done exceedingly well last year by cashing in on the booming mobile games development domain. Its mobile games platforms are available for online and console firms apart from Android and iOS developers.
