Twitter to enhance local discovery offering with acquisition of Spindle

Twitter is desperate to enhance its local discovery offering and this has led to the social media giant acquire Spindle, a local discovery service.

As part of the acquisition the employees of Spindle will shift base from Boston to San Francisco and there they will work alongside the team of Twitter.

The Spindle app took almost three years to make. It utilizes user location, time and social networks to identify places of potential interest and neighboring restaurants, bars and shops.

Spindle made an announcement in its official blog where it mentioned that almost three years were spent to help users see what is happening around them right at the time. Spindle has always thought beyond local discovery and the quality and reach of the content on Twitter has always amazed the team at Boston.

The partnership is likely to offer further information on what is happening around at every moment.
