Twitter “hashtag” now on FB?

The hashtag concept of Twitter is used to group relevant and connected tweets into timelines so that anyone interested in a particular topic can track tweets on the topic and follow it.

It is not just organizations that use this concept. Quirky hashtags are also used by individuals and this whole concept has added a bigger dimension to Twitter and its tweets. As far as brands are concerned it is one of the simplest ways to increase interactions and enhance visibility.

It is now rumored that Facebook will follow suit and use hashtag to increase the interactions between the users and also offer it to advertisers to allow them more exposure.

However, hashtags are neither exclusive to Twitter nor unknown to Facebook. Hashtags are commonly used in Instagram to track images.

Facebook is supposed to imminently start using this concept following its announcement of the mobile inspired “News Feed Design” announcement.
