Apple is now developing a new social games network for the iPad and the iPhone.
The core elements of games network by popular companies will be found on Apple’s Game Centre, like multiplayer matching, friend profiles, achievements and leader boards. Game Centre and Facebook is supposed to be connected for players to check which friends are using iPhone games.
It will give tough competition to the rival companies like Scoreloop and Aurora Feint. Although these existing companies have been trying to welcome Apple to industry, they are worried about their survival. It has been confessed by companies like Scoreloop and Fient that the launch of Apple’s Games Centre might cannibalize them.
‘Monitisation’ is the only way in which they plan to keep up their sales irrespective of Apple’s Games Centre. The focus will now shift to virtual goods.
In the meanwhile, Scoreloop has announced that it will extend its services to other smatphone platforms very soon.
