Tesco Mobile MVNO customer numbers touch two million

Tesco the Supermarket giant opened 105 dedicated phone shops during 2009 and in its Annual Report it is published that the company now has over two million MVNO customers.

When their financial report till December 31, 2009 was published on April 20 it showed a flat 14% rise in the customer number in its mobile virtual network operator joint venture with O2.

Tesco is now planning to add another 100 shops within the current year to make this number grow further. They are using their phone shops positively to increase overall sales and on contract mobiles.

Sir Terry Leahy, Tesco’s chief executive expressed his happiness on reaching this figure and attributed this success to focused strategy that helped the company do well in economic adversities. He also said that the cost structures also helped its customers to save money during economic downturns.

The company focused on streamlined operations, strategic acquisition, and improved market shares during the recession and as a result came out as the winner.
