Tech startups have €350m available from Index Ventures

Index has compiled the name of Index Ventures as the sixth name in its list.

Index Ventures is a Europe based organization with an office in San Francisco. The total contribution comes from eight index venture capitalists. They seek to support startup firms in Israel, the US and Europe.

Within the total money pool of €350 million, €20 million has been set aside for seed deals.

The fund has been launched in what is being seen as a subdued time in the European business scenario. But the investors counter in true entrepreneurial style stating that this is, in fact, the best time to invest in businesses.

Mike Volpi, Index partner said that it is during the down cycle that one should fund in companies. The businesses that get the funding have a level playing field to compete.

Some of the companies that have been backed by Index include BOKU, Dropbox, Lastfm and Skype.
