Tanaka – the first mobile gaming billionaire

Yoshikazu Tanaka has been honoured with the title of the first mobile gaming billionaire in the world by Forbes Magazine.

Tanaka is the CEO and founder of Tokyo’s Gree, which is enlisted in JASDAQ. The company has made a name for making Flash Lite mobile games that are socially relevant. Of late, the Japanese market has suffered considerably with their mobile services.

The mobile services of Japan have proved to be a failure outside the country. However, in such an adverse condition, Gree had managed to win the hearts of mobile gamers. These games not only have a social connection, but also are free.

Gree had a revenue growth of 2,600% in the last three years. With an operating margin of 57%, the company has bagged the title of the fastest growing Japanese tech company by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
