SMS Gupshup reaches the 2 billion mark in messaging

SMS GupShup now handles 2 billion messages a month, a four-fold growth for this group messaging specialist.

The company lets its users use one-to-many and one-to-one text messaging to create communities around its very popular and widely used messaging service.

It was in April 2007 that SMS GupShup, an Indian firm, was established and has now 45 million users in India, a growth of 19 million from the previous year. As per the company, the new users per month are being added at the rate of a million a month and financial reports state that the company managed to increase its revenue by 400% in 2010.

There are many businesses that use the services of SMS GupShup for marketing and advertising purposes. Some of the most noted advertisers on the platform include ING Financial, Kingfisher, Maybelline, Ford, Vodafone, Microsoft, eBay, Pepsi, ICICI Lombard, Cadbury, Nokia, Puma, Dell, and Sun Microsystems.
