Samsung confident of selling 60 million smartphones in 2011

After the success of its smartphone models Galaxy, Nexus S and Wave, Samsung is confident of selling 60 million smartphones this year.

As per Korea Times, Samsung, the world’s number two smartphone company, managed to ship 20 million smartphones in 2010 and is savoring the success of the year.

The Android powered Galaxy S has been the biggest hit for Samsung, selling over 5 million unites while Wave, powered by Bada has also done quite well in terms of sales figures.

Shin Jong-Kyun, head of Samsung Mobile Business Division, has expressed his confidence in quoting the number 60 million for 2011. This will cement Samsung’s position as a global tip tier brand in this segment.

Samsung is looking to strengthen its position in the smartphone markets of South East Asia, Central and South America and China. The company will not just rely on the already advanced markets for beefing up its numbers.
