Reading Life to award readers

Kobo, the E-Books firm, has unveiled Reading Life, an ambitious project offering a range of social features for its service.

People can now use Reading Life to track the history of their reading, check in with places and characters inside books and get rewards for reading.

Reading Life allows sharing passages, awards and books to be shared with Facebook friends. The initial community will be created through Kobo’s iPad e-reader app. As per CEO Mike Serbinis, this move is to fulfill the need of social experience for those that have switched to E-Books and built their libraries. This new app will create a fun filled and meaningful experience for users for local, social and real time e-reading.

The Reading Life experience is more than what is available on Apple, Google and Amazon and the check in and award features are like Foursquare.

Kobo has also announced the name of Pieter Swinkels as their new Director for Europe publishing and industry relations.
