PCs battling UK tablet users

The extent that France, Poland, Spain and the UK have seen a change in the mobile market with the advent of smartphones and tablets was revealed by the Orange Exposure 2011 report.

The research states that some consumers use smartphones to kill time when they cannot access other screens and others use tablets to save time. This suggests that the tablet has a more practical purpose. 95% of tablet use in the UK is at home and this has decreased PC use by 15%. PCs are also battling 39% tablet owners watching TV on the device, 40% streaming content and 35% watching on demand content.

The report also states that Spanish users prefer mid-size tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab for navigating outdoors. 19% of French consumers have stated that they watch more TV due to smartphones and 15% of UK customers read more newspapers online.

There are plenty of other interesting stats revealed in the report.
