Nokia to keep backing MeeGo

Those that are updated with the happenings in the mobile phone world will remember that Nokia had teamed up with Intel to develop the MeeGo OS in 2010 but walked out of the deal when they decided to partner long term with WinPho at the start of this year.

People may also remember that N9 was launched by Nokia last month and it is a MeeGo OS powered phone. It is presumed that this was done because Nokia had contractual obligations to fulfill.

Till now there have been no indications that Nokia will launch other MeeGo OS powered phones in the near future but the company has tweeted that they will continue to back the N9 for years to come.

Klas Strom, Head of Portfolio Management in Marketing, Nokia, tweeted, We will support #NokiaN9 for years AND release several SW updates… #nottoworry :).” This piece of information was received from MobileBurn.
