Nokia still rules the feature phone space in the emerging markets

Do you know who rules the feature phone space in the emerging markets?

No, we are not talking Apple or Samsung. It is still good old Nokia. As per Star Arcade’s “Most used Multiplayer Gaming Smartphone Survey”, the top five handsets all belong to the Finnish firm.

Nokia had launched their multiplayer gaming service a few months ago and now claims to have more than 300,000 consumers spread across 10 countries. The focus is on ad funded social games and freemium content for the emerging markets of Latin America, Asia and Africa.

As per the survey, the top five handsets in the feature phone space in the emerging markets are Nokia 5800d XpressMusic, Nokia E71, Nokia N8, Nokia E63 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic in that order.

Star Arcade believes that Nokia is still a very large platform for their games and although Android and iOS games are very popular, the story in the emerging markets still favors Nokia.
