New Ubuntu OS team now joined by EE

Mobile Today has reported that EE has pledged to support a new operating system named Ubuntu by joining a team of international operators that will work together to develop the new software application.

EE became the latest operator to join the coalition that already has in its rank operators like Deutsche Telekom, Korea Telecom, LG UPlus, Portugal Telecom, SK Telecom and Telecom Italia. This almost clearly states that it will be one of the launch partners when the Ubuntu handsets are released in the market later in 2013.

The group will regularly meet to discuss porting apps from Android and BlackBerry, ecosystems, standards and also the revenue sharing model for manufacturers, operators and publishers.

Canonical is the developer of the OS and it now wants to expand the OS into the mobile platform following up on its huge popularity in the PC and cloud environments. It expects to delight everyone with the launch.
