Music streaming service from Apple could go live in 2013 QI

Last month we heard a lot many rumors about Apple looking to get into the music streaming pool and join existing players like Pandora, Rdio and Spotify and others.

The rumors died down somewhere but they have started resurfacing again. This time Bloomberg said that Apple is already talking to some of the major music labels about music streaming. Partnerships could be secure by the mid of November this year and the official launch could be in the first quarter of 2013.

If and when the launch happens it could be a major blow for Pandora, the market leader. Pandora achieved an astonishing 86% mobile revenue growth y-on-y.

It is being heard that Apple will offer an ad supported music streaming service to generate revenue. It is also being heard that the company is in talks to ensure that it has exclusive rights to release songs earlier than others in the domain.
