Jack Dorsey, known for creating Twitter, has been working on a new mobile phone payments system called Square.
The system includes a tiny plastic module that is attached to the headphone jack of a mobile phone. This plastic module contains a built-in card reader. An application in the module processes the payment when the card is swiped.
A rival company, Mophie, has introduced a card reader with a case. This can be left on the mobile phone if the user faces no problem with its presence. Visa too, is developing its contactless payment technology.
It seems, everything is going mobile!
