MMA launches new initiative

The Mobile Marketing Association has its plans in place for mobile privacy guidelines to cover how consumer information is collected then used.

This plan has been put in place after the Wall Street Journal revealed how popular smartphone apps are sharing consumer data with third parties and that without informing the consumers.

As per Greg Stuart, CEO MMA, this move shows MMA’s commitment to consumer transparency with regards to data sharing and usage. As per him continuous work on collecting and sharing consumer need to be done by MMA to act in a responsible and sustainable manner.

For drawing the new guidelines MMA wants to work with technology firms, mobile operators, media companies, marketers and agencies.

This new initiative will be discussed next month in Florida where the Consumer Best Practices meeting will be held. The guidelines will cover apps, MMS, SMS, voice, email, mobile Internet and proximity-based and content marketing.
