Microsoft Windows division head shows off toughness of tablet

Microsoft has kept it down on the radar so far but it has now seriously started marketing the Surface tablet.

Media appearances from execs and TV ads and this publicity stunt bear testimony to the earnestness of this endeavor.

Steven Sinofsky is the head of the Windows division of Microsoft and he showed how tough the new tablet is in a never before seen stunt. He used it as a skateboard deck.

Microsoft made a lot of fuss about wanting to use special materials in the Surface tablet, materials that had not been used in previous touchscreen computing products. It ended up using Vapor Magnesium for the tablet case and a Gorilla Glass 2.0 for the touchscreen. And now Sinofsky has tweeted a couple of pictures to prove just how hard this has made the device.

This sure is a unique publicity stunt but only time will tell whether Surface can sway customers away from laptops and iPads.
