Microsoft announces its first app for Android

The first application for Google’s Android is ready, according to Microsoft’s latest announcement.

Microsoft has told TechRadar that they are happy to be on the Google Android platform. The company is glad that they could make Microsoft Tag accessible to users of all leading mobile phones. Microsoft has not confirmed any details about future additions to the Android Market.

The new app called Tag Application will allow Android users to scan barcodes. They will also be able to purchase goods from online retailers by visiting them. This app will be available on the Android Market. After the success of this app on other mobile platforms including Symbain S60, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry and J2ME, it is now ready for Google’s Android.

The new application is similar to Google’s barcode scanner app. However, Tag has the ability of converting barcodes into coupons with which users can get discounts at certain stores.
