Mandate for Google Wallet in Google Play?

As per Reuters, Google is pushing its developers toward its Google Wallet to use it as the only payment option in the Android market.

It is now known as Google Play.

Many developers don’t like this push. Google Wallet is not only under used by the public but is also relatively more expensive to use. This move seems to be against the open Android policy that traditionally welcomes third party services. But it seems that Google is hell bent on elevating this payment method to reach the status of something like iTunes.

Google also has plans to simplify the store and claims that its higher adoption will lead to revenue shares.

In an email to a developer late August, Google said that the apps of the developer would be suspended from the Android market if the developer didn’t comply within 30 days.

Papaya told Reuters that it has adopted Google Wallet by dropping Zong and PayPal.
