M-payments at 30,000 feet through Windows Phones

The 19,000 staff of Delta will now carry Nokia Lumia 820 on board its flights, making customer interactions better and easier.

The devices will be Wi-Fi enabled and act as Avanade MPOS, thus making it easier for the staff to transact with customers and offer simpler ways to enjoy the upgraded services aboard the flights.

Delta has always been rather proactive in using technology – it was at the forefront in using Google Goggles print ads and Apple Passbook.

The Nokia Lumia 820 devices will allow frequent flyer info, updates on connecting gates and flight attendant scheduling, passenger manifests and onboard purchases.

The updates will be ready on the Windows 8 tile display and flight tracking information from the Delta Fly App and weather reports can be accessed easily.

Delta has decided to adopt this new technology to improve services for its 160 million yearly customers. Plus American Airlines has also teamed up with Sabre. is the home of mobile bingo – our current favourite is mmmBingo.
