iPad is the face of the US tablet market

‘Digital Omnivores: How Tablets, Smartphones and Connected Devices are Changing U.S. Digital Media Consumption Habits’ is the new research from comScore and it has reconfirmed what everyone knows.

The iPad market reflects the entire US market. The report also shares data that the iPad is accounting for higher Internet traffic than the iPhone. iPad accounts for 46.8% compared to 42.6% for iPhone.

Smartphones and tablets are now accounting for 6.8% of all US data traffic. Half of the US mobile users now use mobile media. The number of users of mobile media now stands at more than 116 million, a growth of 19% from last year.

iOS also has the highest share of connected smartphones and devices being used. It racked up 43.1% compared to Android’s 34.1%.

About half the owners of tablets made a purchase on their tablet and 60% of the owners use the tablet for reading news.
