iAd is the latest from Apple that has caused ripples in the mobile advertising world.
Apple’s own version of mobile advertising will allow users to open small windows within applications. The windows can be expanded within the applications. iAd will eliminate the need to open a different website or program by using the window.
The existing APIs will be used for these sub-aps. Live feeds, videos and links can be embedded by developers in the advertisement. Links will also be available so that consumers can directly purchase the item from an online store.
According to Steve Jobs, the recent ads in the apps “suck”. Through iAd, Jobs is giving an opportunity to developers to make a profit. Apple wants to utilize the opportune time when mobile phone users spend at least 30 minutes each day on applications. They will take this chance to serve as many as one billion advertisements each day.
