For Android browsers and Safari on iPhone, YouTube has launched a new mobile site using HTML 5.
When the users are on 3G connections on these phones, they will be able to experience better quality YouTube videos. As per Product Manager Andrey Doronichev, the new site will give the users the experience of the actual website.
A recent Morgan Stanley report has stated that in the next five years, more people will connect to the Internet on their mobiles rather than their PCs. YouTube mobile grew 160% in 2009 and plays more than 100 million daily playbacks presently.
As per Mr. Doronichev, the new site is fast and is more touch friendly. It also allows search, creating playlists and like or unlike videos. As the .com YouTube site gets improved the results will quickly be incorporated in the mobile site. This is unlike native apps that take time to get updated.
