As reported by Reuters HTC recently refused to place a bid to buy Palm when invited showing lack of synergies to take this deal forward.
Taiwanese firm HTC used to prepare mobile sets for Palm but showed no interest in the bid after scrutinizing the company’s books. It shows that there are not many takers for the ailing company. Huawei, the company that is more popular for manufacturing telecoms infrastructure equipment and also tried their hands in mobile phones production for sometime also refused to place a bid in purchasing Palm.
But, as per insiders’ stories it is Lenovo that has shown positive interest in the bid. Market insiders see this as the company’s strategy to enter US market where their presence is quite thin compared to other markets.
The price that has been set for Palm is rumored to be £780 million but it may drop significantly looking at the company’s future assets of the brand value. Development of the webOS may however lure the buyers to make it a winning proposition for both the parties.
