HTC is seeking an injunction against the import and sale of iPhone, iPad and iPod in the US because it feels that Apple has infringed five of its patents in the country.
Jason Mackenzie, VP, HTC North America, has stated that the industry should thrive at healthy competition and innovation to offer the best and most accessible mobile experiences to customers. This is the belief in HTC that in 2002 invented the Windows Mobile PocketPC Phone and in 2008 launched the Android Smartphone. Mr. Mackenzie has promised legal action against Apple to protect its intellectual property, its customers and industry partners.
Apple has already alleged that HTC is infringing patents and HTC must come out with substantial evidence to counter those allegations. This action by HTC could be due to its agreement with Microsoft.
We will probably see a quick meeting in court and hope things get sorted out soon so that both Apple and HTC can continue making those great smartphones.
