The new “developer advocate” for Google’s Android video games is Mark DeLoura.
This game industry veteran was the man behind Sony Computer Entertainment. Google has taken this step as a part of their expansion program into the rapidly growing world of gaming like Chrome and Android. Google has chosen the best in the business to do the job, as DeLoura’s experience in the industry is unparallel.
He has not only been on the board of International Game Developers Association and OneBigGame Charity, but has also worked as a consultant for many companies.
DeLoura’s recruitment by Google shows the company’s plans of joining the game development bandwagon and developing the Android platform further. DeLoura has recently told Gamasutra that Google has made it evident that they acknowledge the increasing importance of the medium, game.
Hiring an expert especially for this shows how focused the company is on games. He also remarked that his position is “both inward- and outward- facing”.
