Google enters photo sharing market with Pool Party

Photo sharing apps Instagram, Color and Picplz have been making positive and negative headlines in 2011 but they now have a new competitor in the market with Google entering the market with its Pool Party app.

It has been recently revealed by Facebook that they are working on a dedicated photo sharing app but a team of developers working in Google has already beaten it to the Android and App Store. The Pool Party app has been developed by a social studio called Slide, a company that Google acquired last year. It has been reported that Slide works on its own within Google and its new app may conflict with Google’s Google+.

Pool Party is currently in its beta version and has an invite only mode. It allows people to upload photos, create group albums and also see their friends’ photos in real time as they are being uploaded. The app is currently available for iPhone and Android.
