It has been revealed in a recent survey that 25% of mobile phone game developers are focusing on iPhone and iPod touch.
Ever since the App Store has been launched in July 2008, game developers have set their eyes on the iPhone.
Game Developer Research has conducted a survey on over 800 game developers. The statistics revealed that the number of mobile phone game developers has doubled from 12% as seen in the previous survey. The number of game developers for Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s PS are half that of the mobile phone game developers.
The number of game developers is not the issue here. There are numerous gaming companies creating innovative games for the App Store. But only few of them have managed to sell a good number of copies.
According to the research by Game Developer Research iPhone is showing more interest in the conventional handheld and console game developers.
