For watching Flash based content like YouTube videos on the mobile phone, the Flash Player 10.1 has been launched.
However, this cannot be used on the iPhone or the newly launched iPad. HTML5 is the Flash equivalent that works on these Apple products.
Recently, a video has been posted by Michael Chaize, an adobe Flash platform evangelist, that compares the Flash Player 10.1 with HTML5 on Nexus One. The video reveals that HTML is not too impressive when it works on a 3G iPhone. The Flash Player 10.1 overshadows HTML5 when an animation benchmarking demo was run.
The video makes it evident how fast Flash Player 10.1 works on a mobile phone in comparison with HTML5. However, the HTML5 has a lot of scope for improvement. According to Chaize, the comparison of HTML5 and Flash Player runtime is not easy. Code optimization and performance has to be taken care of when one is dealing with a technology that concerns animation.
