Etisalat now offering carrier billing for Ovi Store

Etisalat is now offering Ovi Store carrier billing and the service is now available in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The service is being planned in more Middle East and African countries. This comes as a nice deal for Nokia that has operator billing as one of the cornerstones for its apps strategy.

At the start of the week, the firm disclosed that Ovi downloads are now up to 5 million a day and operator billing on the Ovi Store is now supported in 36 markets and 112 operators. This number is mind boggling when compared to the others. Android, for example, offers the service only with AT&T, Sprint, NTT DoCoMo, SoftBank, KDDI and T-Mobile USA.

As per H. E. Mohammed Omran, Chairman Etisalat, the company is delighted to partner with Nokia in driving the increasing demand for technology and quality application. The readiness of the modern customer to adopt to new technologies is a ramp curve to pursue.
