EA Mobile signs deal for Worms rights

EA Mobile is to acquire the mobile rights to the worms franchise by a deal with Team17 and THQ Wireless.

Not only has the publisher assumed the rights of the various game versions like Worms 2008, Worms 2007, Worms Forts 3D, Worms 2 and Worms Crazy Golf, but has also launched an exciting new version of the game.

Worms had been taken to iPhone’s App Store last year. Team17, the developer of Worms, has decided to hang on to the iPhones rights to the franchise.

This move is EA Mobile’s shot at proving itself to be the best mobile game publisher in the market. The company had previously signed deals with Namco Bandai, Eidos and Taito. Brew and Java games are failing to generate enough revenue in the mobile games market, as remarked by Glu and Gameloft in their latest report. EA Mobile plans to survive this phase of transition in the mobile games industry with deals like Worms.

The big players have finally realised that mobile is the future – mobile bingo is going berserk!
