As per a recent survey conducted by ComScore, the leading agency for mobile resources and information, mobile gaming market is showing a steady and fast growth in coming months.
Though a dip of nearly 13% has been observed in the number of mobile game players in US market, the introduction of smartphones is likely to change the picture for better. The survey also shows contrasting trends. There was almost 35% drop in mobile gamers in the segment of non-smartphone users that comprises a market share of 80%. But among smartphone users, there has been a rise by almost 60% in the number of mobile gamers.
Mark Donovan, the SVP mobile and senior analyst for ComScore also says that the gaming market shows great signs of hope even if there is a decline in overall numbers of mobile gaming users. He says the transition from conventional to smartphones will bring in more users in mobile gaming as they will now have a superior mobile gaming experience.
The survey shows a three-fold growth in the number of smartphone users versus feature phone users. And, these users are five times more likely to lay mobile games than feature phone users. As per Donovan the adoptive and responsive features of the smartphones will lure new users to mobile gaming as well.
