Cloud based e-books service a reality now

As per comments by its MD Dominic Myers, Waterstones, a UK-based books retailer, is now considering the launch of its own cloud based e-books service.

As told to The Bookseller, the trade site, Mr. Myers said he believed that cloud based content will soon become a reality and a hit and the company is conscious about going that way.

People can already read e-books across different platforms and devices thanks to services from Kobo, Amazon and Google. Apple also uses its own range of iOS devices for its iBooks app. Readers can currently buy e-books from the Waterstones website but can only read them on devices manufactured by other companies.

Mr. Myers expects that the e-books sales figures are bound to go up post Christmas when people start unwrapping their e-readers that they received as Christmas presents.
