China passes 100 million 3G subscribers

September saw China Mobile reach 43.2 million customers for its own TD-SCDMA 3G technology as the country’s total number of 3G subscribers hit a record 102 million.

This information comes from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. There was further information received that states that China had, in September, 952.3 million mobile phone users and 288.4 million landline users.

However, there has been a slump in the number of landline users as more people switched to mobile phones. The total telephone market in China is now a whopping 1.24 billion.

The number of broadband Internet users in China reached 149.9 million in September, up 23.6 million year on year. At the same time, dial up connections fell to 5.7 million.

Asia Pacific has been a fast growing market in the mobile phone industry. It was recently reported that Asia Pacific has more mobile Internet usage than Australia, Sweden, the USA and the UK.
