The latest name to join the OpenFeint iPhone social gaming platform is Capcom.
The first two OpenFeint games to be released by Capcom are Dark Void Zero and Hatchlings. Both the games have features including leaderboards and achievements. As return gift, the games will receive promotion from Aurora Feint, the makers of OpenFeint. The promotion will be on Openfeint Game Spotlight application for two weeks.
Manabu Seko, head of Capcom’s Americas and EMEA studio said that the company has been evaluating the online mobile games space for a while and OpenFeint was a good choice because of its great social games platform.
The evaluation includes the fact that come summer, Apple will launch its own Game Center community. It will offer many of the core OpenFeint features included in Dark Void Zero and Hatchlings.
Capcom will need to decide whether to stay with OpenFeint X service or switch to the Apple platform as the latter is set to offer more transactional features in Game Center.
