BBM for iPhone and Android hits 20 million

People seemingly have lost interest in BlackBerry in the last two years but seemingly not in BBM.

BBM for iPhone and Android was launched last week and the number of new active members is already past 20 million.

Following 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours of launch BlackBerry had introduced a line-up system so that no failure happens. It has now removed the queue.

The number of active global BBM users across BlackBerry, iPhone and Android is now past 80 million. It is now the top free app in Google Play in 35 countries and in 107 countries in the App Store.

BlackBerry is delighted with the number of downloads but wants to use engagement as the measure of success. It wants more connections happening and more conversations flowing. BBM has always been associated with conversations in real time and the company wants to focus on activity and not just numbers.
