BBC Weather app downloaded a million times

In a BBC blog by James Metcalfe, Senior Product Manager it was announced that the one millionth download of the BBC Weather smartphone app has been done.

A statement in the blog said, “It’s great to see such a positive response to the app and to reach this milestone in extra quick time.”

The blog also shared insights on how people who download the app have been using it thus far. BBC has mentioned that it has seen a change in the way the BBC Weather mobile app is being used.

There has been a rise from 20% to 25% in mobile traffic to the BBC site and after the app was launched almost 47% more people started accessing the BBC using their mobile than the previous weekend.

An important insight is that most people tend to check the weather between 6 and 9 in the morning.

BBC has already started working on the feedback.
