Bad News for Mobile Phone Thieves

Mobile phone thieves are not going to find it worthwhile selling mobile phones now.

Some of the biggest players in the mobile phone industry, the police and the Home Office have now come together to set a new code of practice that will stop the recycling of stolen mobile phones.

Research shows that every year, about 100,000 handsets, costing an average of £25 per handset, are stolen and recycled. Now the participants in the code of practice will work together with the National Mobile Phone Register to find out about stolen mobile phones. With as much as 90% of the mobile phones being blocked within 48 hours of being stolen, the thieves are not going to find it a profitable industry any more.

Mobile phone Consumers across the country will now breathe a sigh of relief because the chances of their mobile phones being stolen is bound to go down drastically.
