The iPhone 5 did superbly to increase Apple’s market share worldwide but the iPhone 4 also has been a significant contributor. While 1 in 10 new customers of smartphones chose the iPhone 5, more than 3 in 10 new customers chose the iPhone 4.

This is seen as a comeback for iOS although Android still rules the UK smartphone market with 56.2% market share. Android continues to rule the other European markets too – France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

87% of the mobile devices sold in the UK are smartphones and cheaper seems to be the way to go.
