Apple and Google for EPL?

Come the English Premier League TV rights from 2013 to 2016 two of the largest technological behemoths are set to join the negotiations by filling the tenders that will go out before the current season is over.

There have been numerous reports that attribute to this fact.

This seems to be the only way to go for Apple and Google if they are serious about Apple TV and Google TV respectively. Buying the rights will give them entry into the homes of the British soccer viewing public.

This is exactly what Sky did about 20 years ago. It was just about playing around with US imports and movies and was highly unsuccessful. They went footy and gained entry into more than 10 million UK homes. For its £1.6 billion it gets five times more than the 23 games that have been bagged by ESPN.

PaidContent, however, believes that no deal will be on because Apple and Google are not broadcasters.
