Android developer beta for PlayBook

In Q1 RIM had announced about the “Android Runtime for BlackBerry”, a porting platform for Google OS developers that can convert apps from Android to PlayBook.

The testing kit has now been updated and it will allow developers to run an app in individual windows and determine how it runs compared to other runtime apps.

The camera technology on the device can be accessed by developers working on photo based apps. Users can also monetize their designs and include virtual items using the in-apps payment option.

Device encryption is the key feature here and there is enhanced security for individual runtimes as well as for the device.

This new partnership is likely to offer new means of entertainment to PlayBook users when the go live date is reached.

One must, however, wonder about achieving the ultimate goal – achieving large scale sales because users are more likely to go to Motorola or Samsung.
