Amazon plans to release Kindle for BlackBerry PlayBook

Amazon has now confirmed that it is going ahead with the release of Kindle, the app for the new tablet from BlackBerry, the PlayBook.

This new app will be similar to the Kindle app that is available for the iPhone, the regular BlackBerry phones as well as the other Android devices. Users, once they download this app, will be able to go through more than 700,000 book titles available with Amazon.

It may be noted that the BlackBerry PlayBook, 7-inch tablet, was launched by RIM at its annual BlackBerry Developers Conference. The BlackBerry PlayBook will be powered by the QNX Operating System that was acquired by the company from Harman this April.

Director Amazon Kindle, Dorothy Nicholls stated that this new app will be free of cost and will incorporate the WhisperSync technology so that users can easilt switch between devices. She reiterated the company’s vision – Buy once, read everywhere.
