99% mobile malware attacks on Android devices

Although 99% of malware attacks are aimed at Android devices 40% of Android smartphone.

And 42% of Android tablet users don’t protect their devices, reports a research from Kaspersky Lab.

The research, through 2012, discovered 35,000 malware and 47,000 already in the first half of 2013.

The threats could be from cyber-criminals using smartphone programs to send text messages to premium rate numbers to steal money from their accounts. Malware could turn a device into a spying gadget to record user passwords, calls and online banking details.

There has been a 35% spike in Android malware threats year-on-year and since most people store important data on their devices the attacks could prove to be devastating.
