7 in 10 top brands using Instagram

Instagram, although delayed, finally made the announcement that companies would now be charged for sending ads to their customers.

In August 2012 40% of the top brands worldwide were using Instagram and the usage of the app went up to 59% this February. Now, as per Simply Measured, 71% of the top global brands use Instagram.

Use of the app has also seen a jump – 57% marketers, on an average, now send at least one post a week. This is up from 38% from Q3 of 2012. 19% of the brands have more than 100,000 followers.

Using Instagram is simple and likes and comments can be made through taps and scrolls. And with more brands now using it for marketing their engagement scores have increased by 350% y-on-y.

The leaders in engagement are luxury, media and automotive companies. 59% of the posts are made from this segment and they enjoy 83% of engagement.
