According to a report revealed by GSMA, over 16 million mobile users have accessed the internet through their phones in December 2009.
Vodafone, Orange, O2, 3 and T-Mobile in partnership with comSquare has launched the GSMA Mobile Media Metrics (MMM) services in the UK.
This service has been introduced a couple of weeks ago to reveal the mobile media consumption of the top five mobile network companies in UK.
In December 2009, the mobile phone users of these five UK networks have spent a total of 4.8 billion minutes online. They have also viewed over 6.7 billion pages using mobile internet application. The report showed top 10 sites that were viewed the most by the mobile phone users.
These 10 sites (Mobile Operator Sites, Google, Facebook, BBC, Apple Inc., Microsoft, Sony, Nokia and AOL) accounted for 70% of the total pages viewed online. The Smartphone users accounted for 51% of the total time spent online and viewed 47% of the total pages viewed.
